ABSTRACT |
THE PRESENT INVENTION AIMS TO PROVIDE A DAMPER (100) TO ABSORB VIBRATIONAL FORCE
APPLIED AGAINST A BUILT STRUCTURE DURING DYNAMIC EXCITATION SUCH AS WIND AND EARTHQUAKE
LOAD. THE INVENTION UTILIZED THE TRANSLATIONAL MOVEMENT OF SUSPENDED MASS TUNE-DAMPED
BY MAGNETIC FIELD RATHER THE CONVENTIONAL PENDULUM MOVEMENT OF MASS AND SPRING-MASS
SYSTEM. THE MASS DAMPER (100) COMPRISING A BASE (20) FOR SUPPORTING SAID MASS DAMPER (100); AT
LEAST TWO WALLS (30) CONNECTED TO SAID BASE (20); A MASS (40) CONNECTED TO SAID WALLS BY AT LEAST
A CONNECTING ROD (50) WHEREIN SAID MASS (40) IS SUSPENDED ABOVE SAID BASE (20); WALL MAGNET
HOUSING (31) ON ONE SIDE OF SAID WALL FACING THE SAID MASS (40); A MASS MAGNET HOUSING ON SAID
MASS (43) AND OPPOSITE SAID WALL MAGNET HOUSING (31); AND SAID MASS (40) IS SLIDABLE ALONG SAID
CONNECTING ROD (50) TOWARDS THE WALL MAGNET HOUSING ON SAID WALLS (32). THE MAGNETIC FIELD IS
GENERATED BY THE OPPOSITE POLARITY OF WALL MAGNETS (32) AND MASS MAGNET (42). (FIGURE 1)
