PRODUCT NAME Synthesis Of Carbon Nanotube Using Low Temperature Chemical Vapor Deposition
ABSTRACT Carbon nanotubes are made from a single graphene sheet that carried out many amazing properties in it. In this research we investigate the Carbon Nanotubes (CNTs) synthesis by using chemical vapor deposition technique (CVD).The CVD method has been shown as the best method to produce CNTs in large scale. The synthesis of Carbon Nanotubes is implemented with the Thermal Chemical Vapour Deposition using ethanol as the carbon source. Carrier gas applied during the CVD process was argon and the catalyst for the synthesis of the CNT was nickel. The growth temperature applied in this research is 450°C, 550°C, 650°C and 750°C. The goal of this research are to synthesize and produce below 100nm carbon nanotubes (CNTs) using low temperature chemical vapor deposition (LTCVD). Diameter of the formed CNT was investigated with the varying growth temperature and observed with the Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). Results that have been obtained indicate that there is a diameter increase with the increase of growth temperature. This demonstrates that the diameter of the CNT can be controlled with the growth temperature. These LTCVD process are repeated by using different catalyst, carbon source, temperature, and gas flow rate to achieve the goal of this research.
