PRODUCT NAME Hybrid Nano-Organic Solar Cells
ABSTRACT Renewable energy is crucial in solving the inevitable permanent decline of energy produced by petroleum and related byproducts. At present, solar cells comprising of inorganic semiconductor can harvest as much as 24%, close to theoretical upper limit of 30%. However hindered large scale application due to cost signifies that low fabrication cost are now more desirable. Organic polymer solar cells having one of the components as conducting polymers can serve as a cost effective alternative to conventional inorganic solar cells because of the processing advantages of polymers. These polymers can be solution processed and their good mechanical properties open the possibility to design it in flexible shape and sizes. Lacking of energy conversion efficiency hinders the technology to be truly applied for everyday usage. Hence, the project proposed a hybrid nanomaterial-polymer composites; the promising material for low -cost, optimum efficiency solar cells. The hybrid nano-organic solar cells utilises organic polymer with nanoparticles in the active layer. Our results show feasibility of the technology and its applicability to the real solar cell manufacturing.
