The present invention discloses a container comprising a receptacle having an outlet opening with two apertures respectively mounted on each side of the outlet opening; a lid constructed to be attached to the outlet opening of the receptacle; and a locking mechanism for securing the lid to the outlet opening of the receptacle, having a joining member, a handle, a first rod and a second rod; wherein the locking mechanism is extendable in its length by rotating the handle such that the joining member is rotated towards a parallel position with respect to the first rod and the second rod while the first rod and second rod are respectively rotated to be pushed outwards to extend the length of the locking mechanism; the locking mechanism is retractable in its length by rotating the handle such that the joining member is rotated towards a perpendicular position with respect to the first rod and the second rod while the first rod and the second rod are respectively rotated to be pushed inwards, shortening the length of the locking mechanism; characterized in that the locking mechanism secures the lid to the receptable by adjusting the locking mechanism to a length longer than the distance of the two apertures for the first rod and the second rod to respectively engage into the two apertures whereas the locking mechanism unlocks the lid from the receptable by adjusting the locking mechanism to a length shorter than the distance of the two apertures for the first rod and the second rod to respectively disengage from the two apertures.
