| ABSTRACT |
The present invention relates to an active food packaging material. More particularly, the invention relates to a sustainable active packaging film comprising a starch-based polymer matrix, a crosslinking agent, and graphene quantum dots derived from natural sources. The film is configured to provide antimicrobial activity and enhanced moisture barrier properties for the preservation of thin-skinned, perishable fruits. The invention further relates to the use of agro-industrial waste-derived components in the formulation of biodegradable packaging materials.
