A vehicle monitoring system comprising of at least one vehicle, a mobile device and a control unit is disclosed . the vehicle is monitored and controlled wirelessly by the mobile device through the control unit that may be intergrated to the vehicle¿s control system. By using the mobile device, a user of the system is able to obtain information on the location of the vehicle from the control unit via a GPS receiver. The location of the vehicle is determined by triangulation carried out by GPS receiver. The GPS satellites continuously emit radio signals to the GPS receiver. The vehicle is further installed with a plurality of instrusion detection means to alert the user of a possible theft. Communication between the mobile device and the vehicle is achieved through a wireless network base station. Additionally, the user able to control certain operations of the vehicle by controlling a plurality of relay drivers. Communication between the mobile device and the control unit is established by a modem. Text messages are sent by the user to the control unit to request for location information or for controlling the operation of the vehicle. The coordinates of the vehicle is sent by the control unit to the mobile device in a text message.
