PRODUCT NAME Biohydrogen Production From Agriculture Waste
ABSTRACT Hydrogen is considered as one of the most promising substances as a substitute for fossil fuels and one of the answers to foreseeable energy crisis and environmental pollution. Biological production of hydrogen from agricultural waste are considered as the most environmental friendly alternatives for satisfying future hydrogen demand with high conversion efficiency and non polluting nature since this waste are abundant, cheap and highly biodegradable. By considering a molasses, a viscous by-product of the processing of sugar cane into sugar are complex substrates and can be degraded biologically by complex microbial ecosystems on dark fermentation as a key technology for producing hydrogen. Biohydrogen producing bacteria, Clostridium butyricum was isolated from FERMPRO wastewater sludge (molasses) using a heat-shock method in Reinforced Clostridium Media (RCM).
