Friction composite is an important part of braking system for all types of vehicles especially as brake pad. Asbestos was widely used in pads for its heat resistance, but due to health risks, it has now been replaced by a mix of alternative fibers such as mineral fibers, cellulose, aramid, PAN, chopped glass, steel and other metal fibers. UniMAP WF Brake Pad is a novel brake pad produced by using waste filler such as palm ash, slag, waste metal filler, waste PCB and mineral filler together with the phenolic/ geopolymer resin as a binder. The properties such as wear and mechanical are comparable with the existing brake pads in the market.
