Titanium dioxide (TiO2/FS) or titania is a very well-known and well-researched material due to the stability of its chemical structure,biocompatibility, physical , optical and electrical properties. It is one of the most superior materials for decomposing organic materials due to its strong photocatalyric property. In our invention, fish scale (FS) is applied as biomaterials and loaded on TiO2 to produce TiO2/FS composite for study of photocatalytic degradation on organic contaminants. In this study, the azo dyes such as Reactive Black % (RBS) and Methyl Orange (MO) were used as models of organic contaminants in solution. Composites were prepared through sol-gel method by varying mass ratio of TiO2/FS at 90;10, 70:30 and 50:50, respectively. The novelty of this invention is the TiO2/FS composites with ratio 90:10 in mass showedsynergistic effect which performed higher photocatalytic degradation than synthesized TiO of TiO2 and the as the same time reduce the manufacturing cost of TiO2 production.
