PRODUCT NAME Fatty Acid Profile Of Eggs Of Pomacea Canaliculata
ABSTRACT The menace of P.canaliculata infestation on young paddy seedlings is no doubt a serious predicament to the industry as a whole. However, latent, potent fatty acid content/profile of the eggs have yet to be economically exploited. Dreon, M.S. et al (2004) have reported that the snails and eggs consisted carotenoids, free fatty acid, triacylglycerols, phospholipids and free sterols. However, our recent assays suggested that they contained approximately 7-9% w/v free fatty acids, 10% phospholipids, 7% free sterols and 50% triacylglycerols. Therefore, it would be beneficial to extract fatty acids of the eggs and concomitantly involved in the economic and business venture of project.
