PRODUCT NAME Fertilizer Concentration Monitoring Using Biosensor
ABSTRACT Nowadays, the use of organic fertilizer provides some advantages to make soil fertile due to not harmful for soil and low cost. However, the inorganic fertilizer such as urea in small quantity is often required to enhance the quality of the plants. When the concentration of the inorganic fertilizer is not under control can cause excessive hazardous metals in soil and in turn can destroy the soil fertility. Therefore, the fertilizer concentration monitoring is to be very important. The conventional method for urea detection including gas chromatography, calorimetry and fluorimetric analysis are unsuitable for fast monitoring. Electrochemical biosensors have been considered to provide interesting alternatives. The sensors used for fertilizer concentration monitoring are chitosan based sensor. Chitosan is material that non toxic, can be renewed, environmental friendly and did not give bad effect to human especially and environment generally. Chitosan offers a unique set of properties that suggest its potential for interfacing biological components into electronic devices applications. The chitosan films were fabricated via a combination technique i.e. combination between photolithograpy and electrochemical deposition techniques. Chitosan based sensor showed good performance as a sensor i.e. good sensitivity, rapid response, stable, good recovery, repeatable and selective.
