Traditionally, quality assessment is performed by trained human inspectors who approach the problem in two ways: ¿seeing¿ and ¿feeling¿. All Agricultural product delivered to the packing house are subjected to these laborious grading exercises, frequently without any real standard on which to base the decisions. Moreover, a large number of manual workers, rarely with any grading experience, must be brought to this industry, as the production volume increases and to meet output demands. The objective of this research is to develop a portable device for real-time image acquisition and quality detection that can be used to improve the inspection of agricultural products for safety.
