| ABSTRACT |
This research work developed a prototype for a hand held, real time DNA sequencer for ease of HIV detection. The presence of HIV in patient blood is conducted by using sequence alignment search technique. This fundamental molecular biology technique searches for regions of homology between patients DNA againts the reference sequence. Results of the comparison is in the form of the percentage of similiraty between the two sequences, which facilitates to immediate treatments.
