An ad hoc network system having clients enabled to locate hosts and to acquire data thereform. The ad hoc network system comprises a plurality of nodes. The nodes includes at least one client and a plurality of hosts. Each node is distanced, from one another, within a transmission range of each node; each node relays data for its adjacent nodes; each of the hosts possesses data potentially wanted by the client. The system is characterised in that the client is enabled, using a method, to located a host, uniquely identified by an identification number and to acquire data thereform.
