PRODUCT NAME Improving Productivity And Quality In Injection Molding Process With A New Design Of MGSS Conformal Cooling Channels
ABSTRACT This invention is definitely helpful in improving quality and productivity of the molded parts. MGSS conformal cooling channels, which are easy to design, fabricate and assemble, are an alternative solution for a better warpage on the molded parts and cooling time reduction. MGSS conformal cooling channels, which are easy to design, fabricate and assemble, are an alternative solution for a better warpage on the molded parts and cooling time reduction. This is mainly attributed to the direct milling of MGSS channels on the mold inserts, thereby requiring no additional/extra inserts and no separate O-ring or gaskets to seal the ejector pins hole. Only single O-ring was used to seal the MGSS cooling channels. ¿ The comparison between straight drilled and MGSS conformal cooling channels is also more relevant because of the equivalent of cross sectional areas in a same layout. ¿ MGSS conformal cooling channels have been proven to be superior in improving 65% of cooling time and 14 to 54% warpage of the molded part compared to straight drilled cooling channels in conventional injection moulding process. ¿ MGSS conformal cooling channels have been proven to be superior in improving 64.2% of cooling time and 21 to 51% warpage of the molded part compared to straight drilled cooling channels in Rapid Heat Cycle Moulding (RHCM) process. ¿ Simulations are validated with experimental.
