PRODUCT NAME Unimap Lightweight Aggregate
ABSTRACT The main aim of this research is to produce Lightweight Aggregate (LWA) as artificial aggregate which can be used to replace Natural Aggregate (NA) such as granite in concrete. The Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) was the main raw materials used in this research and mixed with liquid Alkylbenzenesulfonates. These two main raw materials easily found in the market. No heat treatment involved in this process compare to existing product in the market. This means that the cost production will be lower than existing product. By using UniMAP lightweight aggregate, the weight of the concrete can be reduced almost 25 % of the normal concrete. The compressive strength of the LWAC for 28 days is around 23 MPa which is only 16% less from normal concrete.
