PRODUCT NAME Energy Saving Ground-sink Air Conditioning for Building Acclimatization
ABSTRACT In the pursuit of sustainable environment, systems with high efficiency and produce less pollution are brought into perspective. Geothermal would provide a solution for energy efficiency and an option of renewable energy. A geothermal heat exchanger or also known as ground-sink heat pump (GHP) system is an air conditioning system that uses the Earth's ability to store heat in the ground and water thermal masses. GHP is similar to ordinary heat pumps, but use the ground instead of outside air to provide heating, air conditioning and, in most cases, hot water. Because GHP uses the Earth's natural heat, it is among the most efficient and comfortable cooling technologies currently available. GHP is receiving increasing interest because of their potential to reduce primary energy consumption and thus reduce emissions of greenhouse gases. The purpose of this study is to design a small-scale GHP system used for air conditioning of an enclosed space. This would cover the selection of heat pump, loop sizing, trenching and piping of a workable system.
